Geode reads the set code and number printed on the card and compares the picture with every card in its catalog. A card opens on its own only when the two agree, or the match is clearly ahead of the rest.
Otherwise you see the three closest cards and tap yours. It takes a second, and it’s never wrong behind your back.

Prices
A price you can check.
Every price shows its source, the condition it’s for, the day it was observed and the sales behind it. The same card on the same day always shows the same price.
No AI estimates. When a printing has too few sales for an honest number, Geode says so.
Normal, reverse holo, holo, first edition and stamped printings can be up to 16 times apart in price. Geode shows each one, so you pick the one in your hand.

Questions collectors ask.
Which cards does Geode recognize?
The Pokémon Trading Card Game: more than 21,000 English cards in 205 sets, from 1996 to the latest releases, and Japanese cards too. Every printing is in the catalog, so a reverse holo is never mistaken for the normal card. More games are on the way.
Where do the prices come from?
From licensed market data on recent sales. Every price shows its source, the condition it is for, the day it was observed and how many sales it is based on. When a printing has too few sales for an honest number, Geode shows “Not enough sales” instead.
What happens when Geode isn’t sure?
It shows the three closest cards and lets you pick. Geode opens a card on its own only when the text it reads and the picture agree, or the match is clearly ahead of the rest.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes. The card catalog and the day’s prices come with the app, so you can scan at a card show with no signal. Prices refresh when you are back online.
Is it really free?
Scanning single cards, your collection, its value and export are free, with no scan limits. Geode Pro adds unlimited Rapid Scan, graded prices, price history and portfolio profit and loss. There are no weekly plans.
What happens to my photos and data?
Cards are recognized on your iPhone, and photos stay there unless you choose to send us a wrong-match report. Your collection syncs through your own iCloud, you can export it any time, and there is no account to create. The Privacy Policy has the details.
